Project Launch Meeting

With funding from CRVPF and MasterCard Foundation, we recently  launched a four year project worth $280,000 that will enable us equip 6000 Refugee and Host Community Youth at Adjumani Refugee Settlements with Agricultural and Vocational Skills and start up tools.

During the Project Launch one of the Youth Leaders said ''This project is going to save our young people from Unemployment, Poverty, Malnutrition and Negative vices like drug abuse''. This is a timely project at a time when many of my fellow young people are becoming hopeless and suicidal given that the UN World Food Program has also reduced the food rations given to refugee yet with no alternative for the young people to survive he added.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) representative present said ''UN has funding challenges at the moment and the option available now is to provide refugees with sustainable solutions that enable them meet their own every day needs. This project we are launching today is exactly what is needed in Adjumani at this very critical period and we commend Voice for Humanity Uganda for considering especially the most vulnerable members of the refugees who are the youths. As UNHCR we are here to provide all necessary technical support to the project team to ensure its desired impact is realised.

The representative from the Office of the Prime Minister-Department of Refugees said, Voice for Humanity Uganda has stood out as one of those very important local partners that we have in Adjumani helping to alleviate the danger of poverty, hunger and environmental destruction through their sustainable Agricultural programs. The focus on young people with lots of energy is a welcome idea and as government we will support in monitoring the implementation of this project to ensure lives are transformed forever in Adjumani.

We are excied about this long term project and this couldnt come without the continued believe, trust and support iof dedicated supporters like you. We are sincerely grateful for your generosity and sacrifices that is helping restore hope to thousands of refugee households in Uganda.
