HAWI
Hawi is 9 years old. He has Down syndrome. Hawi has a minimal eye contact. He has very low attention span and he gets distracted very easily. He is very authoritative and loves leadership roles.
He is interested in class work but cannot stay or do some work for long, he prefers moving around, hyperactive.
He feeds, drinks on his own but his hand eye co-ordination is poor hence he feeds poorly. He loves being given a lot. He is a little bit friendly and loves outdoor activities.
Strengths
Good gross motor skills
Weaknesses
Very low concentration.
Poor memory
Minimal eye hand co-ordination.
Low fine motor skills.
Low cognitive
Poor at social skills.
Low language development.
Intervention
Teacher gave to Hawi puzzles to build, tying shoe laces; he was given plasticine for modeling, sorting shapes, throw ball to learner, catch ball and identification of different colors.
Progress
Hawi has gained a little bit of the skills; he shows great interest in coloring, he now concentrates more on his work and communicates by using simple sign language and can use words like teacher. He attempts to button his shirt though he is not able to completely do it. He tries to colour well within the borders.
