He cried a lot when he was brought to school. He was fearful and withdrawn. He always refused to
Co-operate with the teachers. Joshua could feed himself and recognize number 1-5 and sound a-z. He was able to write both numbers and sounds well.
INTERVENTION:
Apart from the hostile, cruel harsh family background that Joshua comes from at home.
As Joshua’s teachers in his class we decided to give him a shoulder of love to lean on. We offered emotional support and provided him with small gifts in class to motivate him to love learning. Hence the crying stopped.
Other times I would call him alone and give him personal attention this made him draw close to me. This drew his attention in learning and he began been interactive with the teaching aids to lead others in learning sounds and numbers on the chart. The whole class could clap for him through signing this made him to be courageous and friendly not withdrawn anymore.
CONCLUSION:
Joshua has now changed he does not cry anymore, he has improved in his social skills; He can now play with his peers he can read and write/ sign.
He can now interact with the teachers without fear.
He can sign sound a-z without much assistance.
He is always in a jovial mood. He loves playing with other children
