"Who do we call for help?" This is a frequent question during our visits to rural hospitals this year. Khun Yui is a government social worker on our board and has been going with us on these 27 visits to county level hospitals. The purpose is to strengthen our healthcare network among the people who hear about unexpected pregnancies first and communicate the resources available to them, such as our infant formula program.
We've learned from these meetings that our infant formula program is a much bigger need than we realized. Every single hospital says they meet mothers who are feeding their babies condensed milk mixed with water to save money. The hospitals want to help by providing formula to families most in need, but they simply don't have enough budget for it. Nurses sometimes chip in to buy a box of formula but don’t have the means to help everyone they’d like to. Working through local community leaders and hospitals to provide formula the last few years has proven to be a great way to help families make it through challenging times. Thank you for partnering with us!
