At AusCam, we know that providing girls with mentorship; the opportunity to feel safe, secure and protected is vital for their growth and development. These experiences, in tandem with education support, tutoring, and homework help, allow girls to overcome the challenges they may be facing throughout their lives, which place them at risk of exploitation.
At the Shine Centre, you’re investing in girls' lives so they can build a future that they deserve, full of opportunity on a foundation of quality education. Your support through this project means that we can continue providing girls with the resources they need to make it happen.
Today, the Shine Centre continues to operate in a hybrid format through both in-person and online programming as we navigate changing circumstances of COVID-19 in Cambodia. In addition, over the past few months, our team of social workers have conducted over a thousand check-ins as our staff continues to visit girls in person at their homes to provide individualised support and family counselling. This hybrid delivery model ensures that we can continue to give the girls the best possible care and support, particularly in these challenging times.
Over the past few months of 2022, one of our main priorities with the Shine Centre has been strengthening our engagement with local schools to ensure that students receive the appropriate support needed. In addition, we’re making sure that we can reach more girls with additional educational support to make sure they graduate.
In the last couple of months alone;
Best yet, the girls are showing measurable improvements in their confidence, self-efficacy, life skills and employability; building these skills reduces their risk of exploitation in the future.
Thank you for believing in what’s possible and ending trafficking before it begins.
