The ongoing conflict in Ethiopia has caused widespread destruction of livelihoods, agricultural productivity, and property. It has also placed endemic species, such as the Gelada monkey, at greater risk of extinction. Habitat loss, driven by agricultural expansion, livestock grazing, and human encroachment, has further endangered these animals. As a result, the Gelada, native to the Ethiopian Highlands, is now on the brink of extinction.
Project will equip 30 park rangers in Simien Mountains National Park with uniforms, shoes,& monitoring tools to aid in wildlife protection. It also conduct training for local communities&awareness campaigns on the importance of conserving the Gelada monkey native to Ethiopian.It will train 30 rangers&law enforcement officers, establish a wildlife veterinary clinic, relocate 100 illegal settlers with housing&livelihood support, and implement surveillance system &vehicles for improved protection
