Dear Supporters,
Once again I would like to sincerely thank you for all your support. The Forever Wild Initiative is really making headway, with significant innovations and progress in creating solutions to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss.
The short presentation attached gives an overview of our work and was prepared for the United Nations 2024 Biodiversity Conference of Parties, held in Columbia, in October.
Our work is quite different from that of other NGOs. While we actively buy and protect large areas of land, and engage in species conservation, we also create tools for others to use. These tools, such as linking biodiversity projects to the emerging nature markets, are critical if we are to support larger-scale efforts to make a difference.
We work closely with Indigenous People in Australia, where they are Traditional Custodians of the land. Often, these groups are left out of conversations, or engaged as a 'tick-in-the box' exercise. Our work demonstrates that there are far more meaningful options, and we have worked with the Muluridji people in Northern Australia to create nature-based enterprise opportunities - designed by them, owned by them, and managed by them. It is through ensuring that both nature and communities have equity in decisions and economic practice that we can change our planet's direction from exploitation to a genuinely sustainable future.
I hope you find the presentation interesting and inspiring.
Thank you all.
