Cattani never stood a chance. Just five years old, he suffered a catastrophic injury while training at Belmont Park Saturday and was euthanized. He is the sixth horse to die at Belmont this year. Six young, sentient beings—dead and discarded, mere commodities.
While these deaths mount, the industry continues to collect billions in taxpayer-funded subsidies—money that could be used for education, healthcare, or real community needs.
Sunday, March 2nd, The New York Times published a major exposé on this corporate welfare, an investigation Horseracing Wrongs has worked on for months.
The truth is spreading. Now, we must act.
Every day that passes, more horses suffer and die. More young, sentient beings will be exploited, injured, and discarded when they can no longer turn a profit.
The industry will keep its grip on public funds—unless we stop it. We need to build more public pressure, reach more people, and demand lawmakers take action to end these subsidies and, ultimately, this cruelty.
Horses like Cattani will not die in vain—if we refuse to let their suffering be ignored.
We, at Horseracing Wrongs are fighting every day to expose the cruelty, educate legislators, and wake the world up to this injustice.
But we cannot do it alone. Join us. Raise your voice. Take action. Please consider making a donation today to help us continue this critical work.
For Cattani. For every horse suffering in this industry. For justice.
