Celebrating Achievements and Inspiring Generations

By Maria Teresa Puac V | TRL Fundraising and Communications Coordinator

In recent months, Tu’ik Ruch’ Lew (TRL) has reached incredible milestones in our mission to protect the environment and uplift the Tz’utujil Maya community in Santiago Atitlán.

Inspiring the Next Generation

During a visit to Padre Apla’s Catholic School, we had the privilege of meeting 75 first-year high school students and introducing them to the life-changing impact of our Q’aa’q’ Stoves, which reduce firewood consumption, improve indoor air quality, and protect the environment.

The students were eager to learn how these energy-efficient stoves align with our shared responsibility to care for our planet. This interaction was more than a presentation—a call to action. By fostering environmental awareness in young minds, we inspire the next generation of stewards to take meaningful steps toward sustainability.

Award-Winning Recognition

Our commitment to environmental conservation was recently recognized with first place in the GEMAS Environmental Award for Environmental Citizenship, presented by Ultracem, a Guatemalan cement company equally committed to climate action. The ceremony, filled with vibrant Guatemalan culture, brought together many environmental care champions to celebrate the shared mission of protecting our planet.

Looking Ahead

From engaging with students to receiving national recognition, these achievements underscore the impact of our collaborative work. With the support of our community and GlobalGiving donors, we are building a sustainable future, one step at a time.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are creating lasting change!
