Just 17 months ago I received a call that I will never forget. It was an offer to provide $25,000 plus six weeks of volunteer labor to start rehabilitating Project Promise’s uninhabitable building in downtown Christiansted. All we had to do was quickly raise enough money to replace the roof before the volunteers arrived.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Incredibly generous donors from the community came through. The roof was replaced…the volunteers did a tremendous amount of work…Home Depot contributed $22,000 worth of materials…we had two additional rounds of fundraising…and now, if all goes smoothly, we’ll be moving into our new home in September. Woo hoo!
Right now, however, our building is just a building. To turn this house into a home there many things—both big and small—that we’ll need. We’re talking furniture, lamps, dishes, school supplies and more. Therefore, we are asking for your continued support.
Best Regards,
Resa O'Reilly
