Sarah (not her real name, for her safety) and her dog Max (also a made-up name) shared an unbreakable bond. Max was Sarah’s constant source of comfort as they endured the unimaginable—living in their car for months after escaping a domestic violence situation. In those darkest moments, Max was her lifeline, offering hope when everything seemed lost.
When Sarah finally found assistance through a social services agency, she faced a heartbreaking reality: the shelter didn’t allow pets. Max, her only companion, couldn’t stay with her. Desperate and devastated, she worried about his safety and well-being.
That’s when Project Keep Me stepped in. We provided Max with temporary shelter, nutritious food, and veterinary care, allowing Sarah to focus on rebuilding her life. Knowing Max was safe gave her the strength to push forward.
Just a few weeks later, Sarah secured a stable job and housing. Today, Sarah and Max are reunited, happy and thriving—all because of your support. You made it possible for Sarah to keep her best friend through the toughest time of her life.
As we write this report, we’ve just welcomed another dog into our care through Project Keep Me, after another survivor of domestic violence reached out for help. Your ongoing support is making an immediate difference for families in crisis.
Thank you for being a part of this vital work. Together, we truly are transforming lives, one pet at a time.
