23 bicycles were distributed to rural students in March.
We also taught 45 students on that day. We started teaching from 8:00 AM until 9:10 AM. We taught the students about:
Environment – Are you helping our environment? Learn what habits can improve the environment
Nutrition food - Picture of different foods from all the food group, Food plate has different type of fruit/food
Hygiene - Hand washing and nails cleaning, Bathing – Understand why they should take a bath every day
Bike Caring - Your bicycle, taking care of your bikes
About Solar Buddy Light - How to use Solar Buddy Lights and benefits of Solar Buddy Lights
At the beginning, everyone met each other at the CRST campus at about 6:00 AM to have breakfast at a food shop, but before that, we took all the stuff to put behind the bus such as materials, tools, and flags for our event. After breakfast, we went through the road to reach the school at about 8:00 AM as the school is quite far from the town (78 km).
When we arrived there, the director was out there, preparing the students and giving us a warm greeting. All the contributors were gathered and after the teacher finished preparing, we asked all the contributors to go into their part we had divided and discussed. The activity was going smoothly because everyone was joyfully involved with us, especially the guests, they were so delighted to participate with us. As well as before, we had spent around an hour finishing everything including the class, restoring the bikes, and preparing the place for speeches. There were two classes with 2 pairs of educators who taught students about the environment, about food, especially about bikes. The students enjoyed the classes. After that, they played some games to refresh themselves. The lessons were so interesting and after we provided the school materials to the students who did not get the bikes, everyone came out and all PB teams assisted us to gather everyone at the table to open the remarks. We invited all the guests—school director, commune chief, village chief, parents, and other relevant people—to the meeting place and gave a short speech before handing bikes to the students. Firstly, Tangly gave a great speech to introduce our NGO background and the vision and mission of PB to the listeners to get to know who we are. Then, we had quick expressions and gratitude from some important representatives, including the teacher, commune chief, and our guests, at our event.
Last, we also took individual and group pictures with the guests and students who got the bikes in every 3 families. The final step was giving those 23 students bicycles and allowing them to ride to their residences. We are the Project B team and are so excited to have the opportunity to help these wonderful students. Before coming back, we also thank all the teachers who have been waiting for us so far and all our contributors for all their assistance today. Lastly, we went back to Siem Reap and had lunch together. We really appreciate all the contributions from the bottom of the hearts of each participant. Without these people, the event could not run smoothly. Thank you so much!!
