Dear friends from Global Giving and the Tukuy Pacha Association:
Thanks to the financial support that we received through Global Giving in our previous project, we have been able to provide assistive devices to over twenty individuals with disabilities. Our hope is that they will be able to gain more independence in their daily routine thanks. Two weeks after we provided the first assistive devices we decided to visit the municipality of Capinota to monitor the development of those who received an assistive device. Most individuals have adapted well to their new assistive devices, improving their capacity to move and interact with others.
As you can see we have responded to a direct need of the disabled population, a group that requires a lot of support to improve their life quality. It is important to mention that the majority of the groups that we work with come from low income families, something that makes almost impossible the accessibility to proper assistive devices.
Our new project aims as well to help people with disabilities in the municipalities of Arani, Villa Ribero and Cliza. Municipalities that are also part of the department of Cochabamba. Our goal is to collect enough funds to provide a disability card for 60 individuals. The disability card is a very important document that everyone who has a disability should have. It allows individuals to access to multiple resources that the state provides.
The future beneficiaries of our new project also come from low income families. For them it is hard to have access to a disability card due to the fact that this one is expensive. In order to receive a disability card an individual needs to pay for medical tests, transportation to the city of Cochabamba to be qualified based on their percentage of disability, among other costs.
We hope that this report will encourage you and other donors to support our new initiative, to provide sixty disability cards to sixty individuals. This document can make a huge difference in these people's life, it will open many doors for them, allowing them to participate in their communities and become more independent.
Thank you for your support and trust.
