There was incredible progress in the construction of NVSS in 2016. The girls and boys dormitories were 100% completed. Before, the students were staying in one side of the dorms and even those were not finished. By the end of the year, the entire buildings were completed and are now even ready to receive additional students. There were also two workshops completed and utilized for vocational classes – the Carpentry & Brick Laying Workshop and the Mechanical & Metal Workshop. There are two buildings that still need to be constructed at NVSS and these include the Dining & Multipurpose Hall and the Chemistry & Physics laboratory. However, the New Year started out strong with the Dining & Multipurpose Hall construction beginning in January.
The school has also received laboratory equipment and other materials needed for practical lessons. The equipment and materials are essential to the students learning, and now NVSS now has almost all the equipment needed to conduct science lessons. The goal is to provide quality education with a focus on improving the learning and quality of teaching around STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics); increase exposure to science fields; and encourage more students to pursue STEM fields in biology, chemistry, physics and agricultural.
The academic year will begin on February 6th and preparations have been made to ensure that all students report back to school on time. NVSS will be receiving another new class of 56 students. Thank you for making NVSS possible and giving these students the opportunity of a lifetime!
