Learn about our Soar Hurya Kit!

By Carmen Hansen | Communications & Development Assistant

Hi Friends!

We’re excited to share an exciting update with you - one that highlights the power of innovation, collaboration, and community-driven solutions. Today, we’re proud to talk to you more about the heart of this initiative: the Soar x Hurya kit.

In the wake of the earthquake in Morocco on September 8, 2023, Project Soar recognised an urgent need for practical, sustainable menstrual solutions for girls living in underserved communities. In collaboration with Hurya, an innovative Moroccan brand specialising in reusable menstrual underwear, we developed the Soar Hurya kit - designed in the Global South, for the Global South

What’s Inside the Kit?

Each Soar Hurya kit contains: 1 reusable boxer,  2 reusable briefs, 1 reusable pad, a waterproof storage bag, and an education brochure on how to use the products and general menstrual health information.

Designed to for 3-5 years, each item is practical, quick-drying, and capable of meeting the user’s needs throughout their entire cycle. The kit is also economical and environmentally friendly, replacing disposable products for several years.

This is more than just a menstrual kit. It’s a culturally sensitive, durable, and adapted solution tailored to the realities of adolescent girls navigating period poverty in resource-limited environments. Through a collaborative design process - refining eight prototypes - we developed a final kit that empowers girls to manage their periods with dignity and confidence. By working directly with adolescents to assess comfort, durability, and practicality, we ensured the kit is effective and user-friendly.

By providing sustainable menstrual products alongside comprehensive menstrual health education, the Soar Hurya kit is driving long-term social change. It’s not just about products; it’s about restoring dignity, safeguarding education, and ensuring girls can participate fully in daily life and focus on their futures - free from the limitations imposed by menstrual insecurity.

Thanks to your continued generosity, you are supporting a movement that transforms lives - one girl, one kit, one future at a time.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are ensuring that these girls can break the cycle of period poverty - lifting up not just themselves, but their families, communities, and the world along with them.

With heartfelt gratitude,
The Project Soar Team.
