Dear Supporters,
According to a study done by Dr. Ann Njeri at Newcastle University in England, only 14% of girls in rural Kenya who finish their primary education enroll in secondary school. Many of these students do not finish because of poverty, pregnancies and early marriages.
Students, their parents and staff are excited about Grow Against Poverty's Prevent Period Poverty Program beginning at Our Lady of Mercy and at St. Anne's Kisoko Girls Secondary Schools. Building plans have been submitted and construction of the two 4-stall bathrooms with running water is ready to begin. Girls will miss fewer days of school which will help improve their attendance, academics, graduation rates, university acceptances and employment prospects.
Thanks for your continued support of this program.
