ESPANOL: https://issuu.com/nexoscomunitarios/docs/descripcio_n_de_almuerzo_power POWER Lunch is the new version of our successful Lunch Program in the High-Andes of Peru! We aim to combat malnutrition by: - Providing 5 nutritious lunches per week. - Implementing workshops and experiments based on Active Learning Methodology - Will use PhotoVoice and medical check-ups for monitoring and evaluation. We will continue developing our Sustainable Homes Project to promote sustainability in nutrition
Peru has been recognized as an outstanding case on combating malnutrition. The World Bank, Bill and Melinda Gates and others indicated our country's achievement. However, there is still work to do and we want to combat malnutrition in the High-Andes of Peru, specifically in the community of Cuncani. Based on the evidence provided by the government and our experience (we combated anemia before!) we want to combat malnutrition to 0 for the 68 children in the community.
Through POWER Lunch! - 5 nutritious lunches per week - Workshops and experiments about hygiene and nutrition based on Active Learning Methodology - Trimestral medical check-ups and PhotoVoice (Food Journals) as part of the monitoring and evaluation part. Simultaneously, we will continue implementing our Sustainable Homes Project which includes: - Family greenhouses - Chicken coops - Composting toilet.
In 2015, we proved that we were able to combat malnutrition with a Lunch Program. However, the project lacked of sustainability. And this is the reason why we replace the project with Sustainable Homes. Despite the fact that Sustainable Homes has potential to improve nutrition, the results won't be seen for few years. Meanwhile, the children need to keep eating as they should. The renovated Lunch Program will improve nutrition and with the new components will be able to combat the roots.
