"Tree Planation" is one of the annual fundraisings event for Tewa. It began in 2008 due to degradation of forests and depletion of the environment. The plantation has various advantages in conserving the environment and supporting the livelihood of the community. Significantly, it supports the daily subsistence of women by providing grass and fodder. Every year Tewa selects the required public land to plant saplings since it requires enough space and air for the plants to grow. Afforestation helps in preserving biodiversity, water & soil by increasing greenery.
Tewa has annually set a target to plant 700 samplings. Tewa started this event with the concept of preserving the environment for its sustainability. Each year, Tewa has been coordinating with the grantee partners and local bodies for the public areas for the plantation. At the same time, Tewa coordinated with the Forest Division Office (FDO) to provide for various types of saplings.
On August 2023, Tewa prepared a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Tewa's grantee partner "Women Empowerment Centre" & Tewa with basic terms and conditions to be fulfilled by both sides. Additionally, Tewa has supported the local grantee partner from the same locality as Analog Forestry. And the catchment was Jalabinayak Samudayak Ban Upabhokta Samuha, Kirtipur-6. With the support of Tewa's grantee partners, digging a hole, labor contribution, coordination with local authorities, arranging for the local people were done successfully.
To make this event successful, Tewa approached regular/potential donor partners, grantee partners, volunteers and local authorities for support. This year, in total, Tewa was successful in raising NRs 229,450.00 (USD 1,721.00) from this event. The fund will be allocated annually to women's & excluded groups' organizations and mobilized through various themes under annual planning. Specifically, the funds will be allocated to women's groups/organizations working towards environmental preservation, climate change mitigation, and disaster relief.
