The programme, going into its 4th year, has started last week, after a difficult and painful late start last year following the start of conflict, almost one year ago.
We are excited about opening this year on time with the significance of coexistence at this complex time and are optimistic to share our coexistence approach and optimism through sport and rugby - that we CAN live together. Our programme, thanks to the support of The Atlas Foundation, gives the opportunity for 160 pupils both Arab and Jewish in Y5 and Y6 from 4 different schools to play Tag Rugby together, cooperate, hear lectures about gender equality/health/well-being and play for one joint cause – FUN.
We are also excited this year to introduce the 'leadership' addition whereby year six kids, both boys and girls who had one year experience from last year's programme, will be helping the coaches run the year five weekly sessions and tournaments later on in the year. The programme is accompanied by an external consultant who specializes in mediation through sports. All sessions in school and joint are led by a Hebrew speaking coach and an Arab speaking coach who teach in cooporation. It's run throughout the year and concludes by taking in the National Tag Rugby Tournament at the end of the school year.
