Due to the current situation in Israel, schools have been closed and the project has not been able to run properly. The project in Israel uses rugby as a vehicle to bring toghether children across different ethnic and religious groups, teaching them tolerance and respect.
Rugby is key across all our projects, used a catalyst to bring about change. Whether it's used to keep children engaged to teach them about gender equality and rights, such as in Eswatini with SKRUM, or used to help children have an alternative to gangs and crime, as in Masiphumelele and Ocean View High Schools in South Africa, rugby is giving vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the world a fighting chance for a better future.
A group of our Atlas Trustees and supporters recently saw first hand the impact our projects have on these children, on our South Africa Trek. The trekkers visited Ocean View and Masiphumelelel High Schools, where the Atlas rugby programme is keeping children away from the violence on the streets, as well as The Gauteng Women's Rugby Institute, which is giving girls who have experienced sexual assault and gender based violence a safe environment for them to prosper through rugby and education. They finished their visit at the pioneering Atlas Digibus, which is changing childrens lives in Langa, Cape Town, giving them access to computer skills that will help them gain a successful career in the future.
You can help more disadvantaged children across our projects have a better future, free from the hardships they currenty face, by donating today.
