Following our last report we have managed to do lots and feel that Covid-19 aside, we could have been even better off.
Over 18 months ago we managed to present Tag Rugby to the Physical
Education inspectorate in the Ministry of Education and this has been accepted to be added to the Physical Education National Curriculum. Thus being able now to bring into schools as a topic in PE lessons and as a programme in itself for extra curricular activities.
In addition, we have managed to open a new centre in the North region, called Maale Yosef Rugby Club, which is supported by the Haifa club. The interest is high, there is a motivated coach we allocated and a devoted Sports coordinator who aims for the success of this project. We hope it will hold and manage to sustain between lockdowns.. Currently it has over 25 children who have registered to begin however frontal training has yet to materialise as lockdown and limitations have continued to take place.
Our next step in the MoE is to get permission to have official inter-school games and tournaments, both regionally and nationally. This is our next aim and we are in the process of understanding the best way to do so.
