Maybe you remember that we mentioned that our organization is supporting the Community of El Progreso, which is trying to build a pedestrian bridge over the river in El Progreso. The construction of a suspension bridge will allow people access to basic services and better development of this rural community. In the rainy season crossing this river with the water up to your chest is a very dangerous task. Doing it with a baby in your arms is unbelievably treacherous.
Unfortunately, we are still waiting on building that bridge.
Last May, Bill our benefactor and board of advisor member donated enough money to pay for the materials and the labor needed to finish the project that we have dreamed on so much. With his support and the support of friends from Globalgiving we raised the money. But not enough to pay for the cost of engineering services.
As a nonprofit, we are always very careful about how we use the money that our donors and if we can get something for free or donated, we try to take advantage of it. So, somebody offered us to donate their engineering services and here we are… still waiting for the plans to finish the bridge. We have the money and yet we have not been able to start. … but it is coming soon. I must acknowledge that patience is not a strong feature in me, but they promised me that the plans will be ready next week, and we should take off before the end of September.
We will send you an update as soon as we are ready to start. Thank you so much for supporting us.
