By Edith Vizcarra | Fers Family During COVID Lockdowm
Fer has been in the Sarahuaro feeding program for the last 5 years. her older siblings and 3-year-old little sister become part of our program at the begging of the COVID pandemic. The same happened for all Sarahuaro beneficiaries, at the begging of the pandemic Sarahuaro start feeding all children living under the same roof. Many have been the challenges Fer’s family has to face on an everyday basis and even more, out of the economic and social effects the pandemic has put on her family. The lack of water is a problem that has to be solved on an everyday basis, by having money to buy it from a pipe water truck. This is a family of 6 that rely on the head of the family wages. Fer´s father lost his job as a construction worker at the beginning of the pandemic and hasn’t been able to get full week work hours since then. In December 2020 Fer´s father was ill and did not work for 2 weeks, since he is not hired as a full-time worker with all his rights, he did not get pay during the time he did not show up to work. Fer´s mom told us that the meals Sarahuaro provides to her family were the only food the family had on the table during that time. Sarahuaro is grateful to all donors that contribute to feeding children in Cabo, thanks to their contribution families like Fer´s can have some support to make life less hard especially during these unfortunate times of worldwide pandemic.
