The Asherah Foundation offers scholarships to women from all over the world who have survived civil wars, extreme poverty, forced marriages, and discrimination, among others. This time we are supporting the dreams of three women from Burundi, Yemen, and Cote d'Ivoire, who want to bring change into their respective communities through education.
This campaign will support the dreams of three women, who are struggling to finance their studies. Thalia* , from Burundi, has been a victim of the Tutsi and Hutsus civil war, her survival's price being her left leg; Noura* is a Yemeni women who confronted the war and now serves the community through education programs, and Sahra*, from Uganda dreams to empower women to become self-reliant, teaching them how to run their own businesses (* for privacy purposes, their names have been changed).
Since they can not afford their education and the related costs without aid, this project will help to solve their problems by offering them the necessary funds. Those women have to work, support their families, pay for living expenses all while getting an education. Financial aid can be a great help because the constituents will have less worry on their finance and more abilities to focus on their studies.
The project will help the three women get closer to their academic goals. Once they obtain their desired education, they will have the freedom to choose their own path in their careers and lives, making them more financially stable. The impact of the project will also bring a change in the opportunities for next generation, the cultural norms and perceptions of women getting altered once successful women enter the work force.
