This morning you probably turned on a tap to get your water. You made your coffee, brushed your teeth, and took a shower. It probably felt like a fairly mundane morning. But to your grandmothers in Uganda, your everyday is a dream.
Even with the success of your two gravity fed water systems that bring clean water sources much closer to your grandmothers, they must often walk miles to get clean water. Your grandmothers often have to carry heavy jerry cans of water home. If they cannot fetch it, they often have to send their grandchildren. This can take hours that could be used for studying and makes children--especially girls--vulnerable to sexual assault as they walk along the road. Even if your grandmothers can collect enough water to store, they need a safe place to keep it where it will not be contaminated.
Thankfully, the water harvesting tanks you provide help your grandmothers collect and store water safely at home. The large black tanks are designed to safely collect rain water, which is especially helpful during the rainy season. And it allows your grandmothers to store water that they collect from safe water sources.
The clean water you are providing them is helping them keep their families hydrated, healthy, and clean. Thank you!
