Florence is a 73-year-old widow raising her 10-year-old grandson, Marvin. Florence and Marvin were living in a home that was falling apart. The roof was leaking and threatening to fall in, especially during the rainy season. Their pit latrine was full and leaking, putting the whole village at a risk of catching diseases.
There are so many grandmothers in need and not every grandmother can get a new house and pit latrine. When Florence heard the news that she would be getting a new house and a new pit latrine, she cried. For her this was a gift beyond hoping for.
Florence and Marvin now sleep safe and sound while the rain taps on their new, metal roof. They are reminded of YOUR generosity and compassion every day.
