In 2017, the Nutritional Support for Integral Development project assisted 644 children and adolescents, aged between 06 and 17, living in the eight communities inside the Muquiço Complex, located in the north of Rio de Janeiro.
The activities offered in the project had as main objective: to promote the teaching of healthy eating habits, linked to the practice of physical activity. For this, we developed a series of educational actions with the beneficiary public, where we could sharpen the knowledge about a balanced diet and the reach of a healthy life.
Participants had the opportunity to try different types of fruit throughout the year. On some occasions, it was the first time the students were tasting that food and acceptance was immediate, an opening for effective food re-education.
In addition to the nutritional support always given at the beginning and in the interval of activities, the students participated in the Health Week, an activity that composes the educational weeks of the Bola Pra Frente Institute, where they learned a little more about healthy eating and physical activity. At the end of the action, we realized the effective learning of the learners. They left the activities enthusiastic with the knowledge seized and ready to replicate them in their houses.
Families are also included in this process of food re-education. Therefore, weekly we distribute a basic basket of vegetables, vegetables and fruits, granted by a partner, aiming at the complement of the family menu.
At all times, participants are encouraged and taught about changing eating habits through playful activities, where the conversation wheel and workshops are in line with the purpose of the project.
