Nutrition & health for 150 kids Petare, Venezuela

Este periodo fue de buenas noticias para OSCASI, realizamos nuestras primeras mediciones de avance y conseguimos mejoras de 12% en la escuela Nuestra Señora del Carmen y 32% en la escuela Beatriz Castillo en los datos antropométricos, estos son los primeros frutos de las mejoras que hicimos en la cocina, comedores y talleres con nuestro personal al inicio de este proyecto.

Como seguimiento a los diagnósticos odontológicos que se hicieron a principio de año, se comenzaron con los tratamientos de las patologías, se atendieron alrededor de 80% de las patologías identificadas. También se hizo una primera jornada de diagnóstico de oftalmología y se identificaron los casos que se atenderán en los próximos meses. Finalmente, en el tema de salud general se realizó una nueva jornada de examen médico con los alumnos de las dos escuelas, tratamiento de desparasitación masiva y despistaje de mal de Chagas.

En atención a nuestro personal se dictó una serie de talleres sobre disciplina positiva, así como capacitaciones para la preparación de sus Proyectos Integrales Comunitarios. También se creo un grupo interdisciplinario conformado por los directores de las escuelas, la directora de pedagogía y la psicóloga para atender casos especiales. Todo esto ha tenido una repercusión positiva en el aula y en el ambiente general de las escuelas.

This period was very positive for OSCASI, we conducted our progress measurement and encountered that we achieved improvements in anthropometric data of 12% in the Nuestra Señora del Carmen school and 32% in Beatriz Castillo school, these are the first clear results of the improvements that we implemented in the kitchen, dining rooms and workshops with our staff at the beginning of this project.

As a follow-up to the dental diagnoses that were made at the beginning of the year, Fundaensalud began with the treatments of the pathologies, they treated around 80% of these pathologies. A first ophthalmology diagnosis was organized, and the cases that will be treated in the coming months were identified. Finally, a new general health screening was carried out with the students of the two schools, as well as massive deworming treatment and Chagas disease screening.

Regarding our staff, a series of workshops on positive discipline was given, as well as training for the preparation of their Integral Community Projects. An interdisciplinary group consisting of the school directors, the pedagogy director and the psychologist was created to attend special cases. All this has had a positive impact on the classroom and on the general environment of the schools.
