Dear Smile Giver
Malnutrition is a common challenge for cleft babies. Statistics show that 1 in every 10 malnourished cleft child does not even reach their first birthday.
Due to the deformities in the lips and palate, a cleft afflicted child face severe feeding problems which often leads to malnutrition. Surgery is the only treatment to rectify their cleft lip and palate deformities.
And it is, due to malnourishment, that the child cannot meet the fitness level required for surgery. It is a vicous loop that affects almost all Cleft children in India. Hence we started our Nutrition programme to take care of these babies.
To combat malnutrition, the mother of a cleft child receives complete guidance and training from nutrition experts so that she can feed her cleft baby properly and provide necessary emotional support and care till her child becomes fit for surgery. Keeping this in view at our Kolkata Comprehensive Cleft Care Centre (KC4), we have started ‘Nutrition Program’ and on the first day of the nutrition program, our team screened 50+ patients.
Nutrition Program is one of the crucial activities for comprehenisve care for these unfortnate children. Thank you for your generous support in helping Cleft child become fit for their surgery .
Your support has not only helped to start the Nutrition Program at KC4 but also strengthened our support for the kids of the entire state.
We look forward to your continued support to carry on with this program in future to help malnourished cleft children, from needy backgrounds, avail the ‘gift of smile’.
You can even start a recurring donation to make a monthly investement in the futures of these kids. Here's the link to our project page Nutrition for 1000 Malnourished Kids
Thanking you
