On December 31, 2024, Second Harvest Japan (2HJ) held a soba soup kitchen for a New Year’s Eve (a traditional Japanese Toshikoshi-Soba) with the disaster relief team Gorilla and local organizations, and 300 hot soba noodles were served to people living in temporary housing and rented accommodations, as well as those evacuating at home. 350 people were provided with packages containing hand cream in addition to foods such as fruit juices, jellies, sweets and cup noodles at a food pantry conducted with Foodbank Japan Nanao on the same day.
2HJ has been providing “Free Food Package” that includes staple foods, side dishes, condiments, snacks and beverages. In addition, the Nakanoto Base of 2HJ opened in March last year in Nakanoto-cho, Kashima-gun, Ishikawa Prefecture, a hub to provide support for disaster-stricken areas, continues to provide food to more than 20 disaster relief organizations and local organizations for interim support.
