As we come to the end of term, we would like to express our admiration for the remarkable achievements of all our young musicians. Their dedication & commitment to making music has been inspiring. We would also like to thank the team of trustees, teachers & support staff for all their hard work and thank you toall our parents & volunteers.
We started the term welcoming over 400 families to our BYMT Try a Musical Instrument Day – this ever-popular event gives children the chance to try all the instruments & make some noise! We know that our young musicians often set their hearts on a particular nstrument at this event and this can be the start of theirmusical journey! We also welcomed the British Horn Society at BYMT in September when over 40 horn players of all ages gathered for a day of performing & filled our hall with amazing music.
Our autumn Concert and Performance season started with the BYMT Musical Theatre’s production of Les Misérables, which captivated a packed audience at Langley Park Centre for Performing Arts. The show was truly phenomenal, receiving well-deserved standing ovations.
“My daughter and I saw your production of Les Mis last night. I have been to see it in the West End and concert versions a few times over the last 30 years and last night I was blown away! The production was incredible, the main cast rose to the challenges and delivered fantastic performances supported by the rest of the cast. Being in the slips, when I couldn't see what was going on, I loved watching the orchestra. Such a complicated, tough musical that was West End worthy. Well done to all involved.”
We continued our Autumn performances with a series of 10 concerts featuring more than 750 student & adult performers. A few highlights included our youngest performers from Kent House & Southborough combining to perform Chariots of Fire, Big Band being joined by an amazing young soloist singer, Pops Band’s lively performance of And All That Jazz, our student-led Cello group, Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra & Adult Choir performing Schubert Mass and a joint performance from Youth Choir & Bromley Youth Concert Band bringing the festive joy performing White Christmas.
And a final mention for our Children’s Choir & Junior Singers – we were so proud that they were invited to entertain the local community with carols in Petts Wood.
Bromley Youth Music Trust – keep on making music and changing lives!
