I, Amrit BC, aged 35, had been living as a homemaker with my two kids in Gurans Gaupalika, Ward 3 Paatikalla for quite some time. My husband, who always aspired to provide our children with quality education, had gone abroad for employment but had to return to Nepal due to unforeseen challenges. This led to a period of financial hardship for us.
Upon learning that the Woman Entrepreneurship Forum, in partnership with Tewa, was organizing training programs, I eagerly seized the opportunity to participate. I believed that this training could provide me with various opportunities to generate income within the country. The training not only boosted my confidence but also instilled hope in my husband that I could start earning from our farm. Under the guidance of Ms. Thapa, the Founder of Tewa, I imbibed the important lesson of supporting and empowering other women to grow together. Inspired by this, I engaged other women from my community in working on my farm, shared the profits, and imparted the knowledge gained during the training, creating a platform for them to learn and grow.
The training conducted by the Women's Entrepreneurship Forum, supported by Tewa, has been life-changing for me. The trust and support of the women in my community led me to contest and win the position of Ward member in the local elections. The positive environment fostered by my newfound empowerment has also influenced my husband positively as he excels in his business ventures. Along with other women, I actively participate in providing assistance during natural calamities. During a recent landslide in Gurans 2, I successfully coordinated with the local government to timely distribute relief materials to those affected.
I am forever grateful to the Women's Entrepreneurship Forum and Tewa for unlocking the potential within me and many other women, providing a platform for the marginalized facing financial hardships.
