Shree Makar Ganesh Krishi Mahila Samuha was established in the year 2015-06-18 AD with 25 members in Pharping, Kathmandu Warda no.06 with a motive to provide creditwithout mortgage and with minimal interest rate to poor and voiceless women of that region who were involved in agriculture. Women group were inspired by the notion “Little drops make the mighty Ocean”, so, they started saving out of their pocket money and formed an agriculture co-operative at one of the member’s house with free rental cost for almost two years. Most of the women of the region are involved in agriculture, so co-operative always focuses on providing smooth credit facility to women. They provide advanced credit facility without mortgage to ease their agriculture production. They also provide seasonal crop seeds, organic compost for free of cost. Their work and contribution to the community as a whole has been recognized slowly, that is why they have started getting donations, agriculturalequipment and tools, out of which, co-operative provides skill based agriculture related training, tunnels for horticulture and vegetables farming, animal husbandry related services for free of cost to enhance the skill and capacity of women involved in agriculture and farming.
Ms. Basnet, president of the organization came to know about Tewa organization during her travel. She took her first grant from Tewa in the year 2015. Tewa reached organization in the form of mentorship program after earthquake in the year 2018. Out of grant received from Tewa, mentee organization’s member received training on compost formation and vegetable farming. After realizing the effectiveness and fruitfulness of training program, mentee organization requested for some more trainings and capacity building programs.Members of mentee organizations had difficulty to even pronounce their name before introducing mentorship program in their organization. They now have improvised their communication skills and have gained confidence in public speaking. Mentorship program also provided socio-psycho counselling program to mentees, which thus, has helped them to overcome their personal level stress. This helped mentees to gain confidence in Tewa as a guardian and support partner as well. During COVID, mentee organization conducted various kind of awareness campaign and provided nutritional foods and relief support packages to single women, diseased and senior citizens. Mentee organization provides various kind of capacity building program out of Tewa’s grant to member women, which has helped them to perform effectively in their agricultural production. Mentorship program also has helped mentee organization in advanced and organized office management. Mentees have also participated in “2 days Kapomis Training”, organized by municipality. Which has helped them in organized agricultural production. Mentorship program has helped mentees to enhance their skills and capacities through participation in training and capacity building programs in topics related to women’s legal rights, property right,agricultural production, communication skills, office management skills,etc.
