The 84 rural Xhosa children using our educational facility daily are all on the road to literacy and we see this in the enriched work they produce. Thank you to all our sponsors for giving these children this amazing educational opportunity!
The powerful Montessori method provides our Ncinci Ones with many activities that allow them to start building skills necessary for reading, from age 2½, with concentration being the first skill needed.Thereafter it is a fun, interesting journey to literacy for the Ncinci Ones. It will result in them creating words, writing, reading and understanding isiXhosa and English.
The Siyafunda children love attending their Afterschool program and the attendance is 94%.
We celebrated the opening of our Yann Eric Day Room on Mandela Day, 18 July. It was a very enjoyable afternoon with a few tears, lots of laughter, fun entertainment provided by the children and a great braai – well done amadoda (men).
Matshezi, a mama of a Grade 2 Siyafunda child said, “I am happy for Siyafunda - my child can write properly now and can read”
Thank you for supporting our much-needed work!
