Siyafunda After School Program is a great hit!

By Dawn Brochenin | Project Leader

English tech-time!
English tech-time!

The Siyafunda Afterschool program took off like crazy with the children and we went from 32 to 50 children within a month.  There are now 50 children in grades 1 - 3 attending the Afterschool program daily. Mondays - Thursdays the children attend from 2 - 4pm and enjoy literacy development with stories and creative activities. The children are divided into 10 Groups for their Tech Time on the 5 Amazon Fire Tablets we have;  they do English and Maths development programs using the lovely IXL program.  The children have taken to the technology soooo quickly :-)

On Fridays, the children attend from 12 - 2pm and they do sports and outdoor activities.  The Siyafunda program has recently joined the Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots program, so we will start spending Fridays doing good things for people, animals and the environment.

Thank you all so much for walking this road with us and giving these rural children this great opportunity!

Warm regards

Dawn Brochenin
