The Siyafunda Afterschool program is busy with all the preparations for the launch!
The 2 local isiXhosa facilitators who will operate the program have been identified and employed. The happy women, Yanga and Ntombifikile, went up to Kwazulu Natal, to Thanda, for a week's on-site training in their very successful Afterschool program.
The ladies came back incredibly energised and soooo enthusiastic! They were filled with loads of knowledge and hands-on skills to implement the Siyafunda Afterschool program.
Sorting of stationary and planning of meetings took place.
A meeting was held with the Principal and Deputy Principal of the local Government school, to see if we could implement the program at their school, so that we could reach more children. They were in positive agreement with the Siyafunda Afterschool program taking place at their school, and were happy that it was 2 ex-pupils from the school, coming to do the program. There is one more meeting taking place on Wednesday, 13 February with the SGB of the school. If this meeting goes well, the Siyafunda Afterschool Program will start on Thursday, 14 February - with lots of love!
Yanga, the lead facilitator had this to say: "Siyafunda is changing my life! Since I came from Thanda, where I got such good training and alot of knowledge. I am going to share this with the children so they can produce new skills and gain more knowledge and have a bright future"
Thank you!
