A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake has struck Myanmar and Thailand. Entire buildings have collapsed in Bangkok and Mandalay, with thousands displaced. At least 3,000 people have been killed, and thousands are injured or missing. The earthquake comes on top of an already dire humanitarian crisis in Myanmar, where years of conflict have left communities vulnerable. The Myanmar and Thailand Earthquake Relief Fund will provide urgent relief and long-term assistance in the hardest-hit communities.
The earthquake's epicenter near Mandalay caused massive structural damage across Myanmar and Thailand. Homes, schools, and places of worship were destroyed, and the collapse of a 30-story building left over 110 construction workers trapped in Bangkok. With roads damaged and communication lines down, access to critical resources is limited, placing communities at even greater risk-especially in Myanmar, where an ongoing civil war and mass displacement have already triggered a humanitarian crisis.
Donations to the Myanmar and Thailand Earthquake Relief Fund will support emergency response efforts across affected regions. Immediate relief will include search and rescue assistance, medical care, food, clean water, and temporary shelter. In the long term, your contribution will help rebuild homes and infrastructure and support local, community-led recovery efforts-especially those focused on low-income and underserved populations most impacted by the earthquake.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
