This project will assist young vulnerable girls in Primary and secondary education in Uganda to access sanitary ware. These girls come from very high need families that can not afford sanitary pad (1 U$ day). As a result many end by being irregular at school and eventually drop out of school. The project will support 1000 girls from 10 schools as for the start. For sustainability, the project will carryout a feasibility study to establish a cheaper production facility of the sanitary pads
Many young girls in Uganda in there course of growth never get the opportunity either to know or ignorant about sanitary pads given that also in their families their mothers never got the opportunity to use on sanitary towel in lifetime. So awareness on sanitary towels to many of them seem to be taboo and with this kind of life young girls face the worst pain and stages of humiliation in the course of menstrual period characterized with several infections and loss of comfort
This project will Create awareness on menstrual management and the need and use of sanitary ware Acquire simple machinery for making sanitary pads Empower school girls how to make sanitary towels Train caregivers and parents on how to make sanitary pads {wear} for income generating
Reduce unawareness on menstrual hygiene for over 1000 girls Reduce school dropouts by 45% Have over 100 girls accessing sanitary wear Create over 500 jobs for the parents/guardians through employment in sanitary wear making
