The performances, workshops and activities reflected the rich traditions and artistic expressions of the Roma community, allowing participants to take pride in their heritage. This celebration of culture was integral to the day, fostering a sense of identity and belonging among attendees.

Overall impact

The success of this event lies not only in the enjoyment and engagement it provided but also in its vital role in challenging stigma and celebrating the vibrant culture of the Roma people. By creating a positive and supportive environment, this gathering provided an opportunity for prison staff and the broader community to view Roma families in a different light — one that emphasises their strength, resilience and cultural richness. The event served as a platform for dialogue, where participants could share their experiences and connect with one another.
