Project Report | Dec 12, 2017
New Projects for Myanmar's Young Leaders

By Carolyn Nash | Director

Last month, supported by your generous donations, our youth-led peacebuilding projects concluded in Rakhine State, Yangon, and Mandalay. We are thrilled to report that our participants have taken initiatives to continue their peace building work beyond the scope of the program. It is our pleasure to share with you some updates on the continuation of the work you have made possible.

  • Safe Online Spaces trainer Zaw*, who conducted media literacy workshops in Sittwe, is now partnering with local civil society organizations to launch a working group focused on disseminating accurate news and media reports.
  • Our Mandalay team, who compiled research reports on homeless populations living in informal settlements, is using their findings to advocate for economic interventions.
  • Based on lessons learned from our first class, MCCL’s Program Team is preparing to launch a community and political leadership program for young women from rural Myanmar. (You can read more about the project here.)

Thank you again for your support and happy holidays from Myanmar!

With gratitude,

Carolyn
