BEElieve it or not! if they die, we will be gone

By Akshay Gawade | Project Leader

Bees and our life
Bees and our life

Dear Supporter,

Hope you are staying safe! We thought of providing some food for thought as everyone across the world is compelled to ponder about how exoensive it could be to ignore nature.

Think about your favorite food! Is it Chocolate? Is it Cake? Is it Burger?

No matter what food we eat, honey bees touch our life in many-many ways. Especially FOOD.

Bees can be found on every continent except Antarctica and there are around 20,000 known species. They are the irreplaceable link to any food chain on the earth. It has been proven by many researchers, that bees pollinate up to 70 of the top 100 human food crops, and it’s said that one out of every three bites of food that humans consume have been pollinated by bees.

As the famous quote says “Appearances Can Be Deceptive”, honey bees are smaller in size but these little creatures are the hardest workers on this planet. Living in well-organized colonies make them the superorganisms. One bee colony can pollinate up to 300 million flowers each day.

But, in the era of climate change, global warming, increased use of chemical pesticides, disease outbakes, and habitat loss leading them to the verge of extinction. The disappearance of these tiny creatures triggered an inevitable chain of events that impacting human health and nutrition. Losing these pollinators leading to lower availability of crops, which are an integral part of our food intake and that provide essential nutrients for human health.

If we don’t act now, the entire ecosystem will collapse due to starvation.

It’s high time now! Let's start understanding the need to respect nature.

Best

Akshay
