Better Staff Pay for Improved Community Impact

By Joshua Omondi | Project Leader

Sheepcare community centre has been comitted to Impacting the Soweto Slums Community- Nairobi and beyond  through provision of quality education to the needy children who would have not gotten opportunity to go to school due their family backgrounds, supply of clean water to the community to fight waterborne and hygiene related diseases in the society and  Community empowerment programs like trainings such as in Tailoring,Hairdressing, Carpentry and Cartering, so that they can be able to carter for their daily needs. These has helped us see a great change in the comunity.

All these cannot be  achieved by a single individual , therefore a need to bring on board other like-minded individuals to help carry out this task. Sheepcare community centre at the moment have a total of 54 staff members who have joined the institution over time to to help drive the vision . we have frequently lost staff a number of staff who went for well paying  jobs , this  has really affected the continuity of some of the projects as new staff who would come in, in many occassions did not catch up with the vision of the former, inorder to solve this, the organization opted to giving monthy stipends to the staff to carter for their needs and to motivate them to continue with the work. Every month, we spend $5000 towards the payment of the stipends to the staff, which has caused a stretch on our budget and at times we delay paying the stipends.

We sincerely appreciate you for your continous support through the GlobalGiving platform, you have helpedus transform a life in the community, during the April little by little campaign we managed to get $8650 as matching funds which was  used in subsidizing the staff stiepends for the months of   June and July. You really relieved us of a huge burden and we are so grateful.

We continue to appeal to you to help us reach other people within your network to support us to ensure we smoothly pay the staff stipends to motivate them to continue transforming the community to avoid the delays and the arreas we have often experienced.

Thank you.
