Thank you for your generous donation to the Morocco Earthquake Relief Fund. Your support has already made a profound difference, helping our Morocco-based nonprofit partners rebuild their communities from within.

Since our last update, your contributions have supported seven grants to high-impact and community-led nonprofit organizations at the forefront of this crisis.

Here is a short description of some of the critical work you’ve supported:

  • Eve Branson Foundation (EBF)is a Morocco-based nonprofit founded  in 2005 to help young people gain the skills and opportunities they need to build a better future while also preserving traditional Moroccan and Berber culture through artisanal training. But after the earthquake, EBF teamed up with other local organizations to provide temporary shelter, rebuild community spaces, and restore access to education in rural areas that was halted by the destruction.
  • Amis de Ecolesis another Morocco-based organization established in 2006. In partnership with local organizations, they helped families impacted by the recent earthquakes by providing safe, sustainable housing in boarding facilities. The organization is currently completing the construction of two boarding houses to accommodate  1,000 students and continuing to install essential sanitation infrastructure—such as toilets and showers—in affected communities. Emphasizing eco-conscious rebuilding, Amis des Écoles uses traditional, natural materials for its infrastructure projects.
  • Queens Collectiveis a nonprofit based in Morocco, dedicated to promoting social transformation and gender equity through  art and activism. In the wake of the recent earthquake, the organization is working to rebuild its office and community center, which were damaged in the disaster. Additionally, Queens Collective is constructing a playground in honor of the children who lost their lives, providing a space for survivors to process their grief and begin healing.

Your support of the GlobalGiving Morocco Earthquake Relief Fund powers community-led responses like these, and it means that emergency relief and  reconstruction projects are directly informed by the individuals and families most impacted by the earthquake.

With gratitude,

Garry Rodriguez + the GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
