Let's keep supporting teen girl survivors together

By Victoria Di Gaetano | Communication and Development Coordinator

Hi Friends!

We are sending gratitude to you, our supporters, for your commitment to help teen girls be the leaders of today and tomorrow, especially in such difficult times as the recovery from the trauma and stress of the earthquake.

In the past months following the natural disaster that led to thousands of teen girls displaced and relocated, we have been carrying on our effort to distribute menstrual products and interact with teen girls to deliver more in depth knowledge on menstrual health education.

We have had a chance to collect opinions and feedback from teen girl beneficiaries and their supervisors with the aim of improving our work and the impact we bring: “Since using these reusable pads, the girls have forgotten disposable single-use pads” shares a menstrual health mentor operating in one of the boarding schools where the survivors teen girls have been relocated “They diligently wash the reusable pads they receive, avoiding hot water and sunlight during drying. Nevertheless, it seems interesting to point out that due to shyness, some opt to dry them in lockers. Discussions were held to encourage air drying and designate a dedicated spot at school.” she added.

Through focus groups and testimonials from caregivers and focal points, it has been determined that the workshops and kits not only prevent girls from dropping out of school and empower them to feel equal to their male counterparts but also provide a therapeutic escape from trauma and promote mental well-being.

We want to thank you for helping girls and women accessing basic and essential needs such as menstrual and hygiene products in times of difficulties. By supporting this campaign you are making a difference! Never doubt you are!

Warmest wishes,

The Project Soar Team
