Monetary support for children with Down syndrome

Dear Supporters,

With the onset of COVID-19, providing basic food and home supplies for children with Down syndrome and their families became essential. KDSP continued these efforts despite the lockdown being uplifted months back. In this quarter, through your generous contributions KDSP was able to support 40+ families with monthly Easypaisa (digital service) cash transfers and grocery bag distributions.

One of the families that has been receiving support is of Sanaullah’s. He resides in an impoverished area in Korangi in a small home with 5 siblings and a father who is not very supportive. The mother makes multiple efforts to make ends meet and with Sanaullah having additional needs, it becomes extremely challenging for her. With KDSP playing its small part through the monthly cash transfers and grocery bag distributions (besides the other services being provided to Sanaullah at KDSP), it gives Sanaullah’s mother some comfort to run the house daily. The cash transfers helps her pay utility and other essential bills while the monthly grocery bags are provided to her doorstep by a KDSP representative. In her words “I am grateful for all the financial, emotional and informational support that I have continued to receive from KDSP. I can now envision a brighter and stronger future for Sanaullah and am optimistic that one day his dreams will come true.”

Another child Ayaan’s family also benefits through the support. In the words of his mother “We receive grocery bags at our doorstep every month very respectfully. Since grocery is not our worry anymore, we are able to focus on our children and can engage them in different activities. I cannot thank KDSP enough for going out of the way to help its Family Network in such troubling times.”

KDSP representatives very patiently guided me and helped me avail this service. They understood my personal issues and always got back to me with effective solutions”, shares mother of a young girl Mariam.
