Save more than 630 kids from anemia in rural Peru!

Dear donor, we would like to express our most profound and sincere gratitude for all your contributions. Due to the help awarded by each and every one of you, the nutritional project continues to thrive, even throughout the difficulties originated by the global pandemic. These are hard times, but with unity and commitment we are confident we will overcome the current situation.

Nutrition program progress report up to March 2022

We have increased our target audience from 335 children to 630 children. We have also included children under 3 years of age and pregnant women. We were able to reduce anemia prevalence from 19% to 9% and keep reducing it even more

Nutrition improvements

1. Distribution of vitamin C pouch for 304 children and 26 knitters.
2. Implementation of a bakery workshop as learning facility for Amashca secondary students. The production of high in iron bread will be distributed among children of 7 towns and pregnant women 
3. Hired a new nutrition program assistant to cover more towns
4. Implemented 80 biogardens
5. Followed up on organic gardens with carrots, beets, spinach, chard, and radish for 240 families, monitored by our nutritionists
6. Demonstration sessions for expectant mothers and mothers of children from 0 to 12 years old. Topics: Nutritious food - children 6 months – 1 year +  Nutritious food - all ages - ATTENDEES – 54 PEOP
7. Three interactive workshop with school children – Topics: Handwashing, Personal hygiene Parasites, food group: builders, energy, protectors, anemia - ATTENDEES – 166 CHILDREN
8. Compile 2022 target population register, considering the new schools and the information provided by the Health Posts
9. Monthly guide mothers workshop – topics: Handwashing, Personal hygiene, Ferrous sulfate intake supervision, Iron rich foods, Maternal - child nutrition+ GROCERIES BASKET DISTRIBUTION
10. Food distribution donated by Peruvian Food Bank – March 2022
11. Delivery of Soy Milk & Cereal – January and March 2022
12. Assisted medical campaign at Pariaqaqa and Acopampa with: Triage, nutritional consulting and feeding of the elderly (care in small groups)
