Dear donor, we would like to express our most profound and sincere gratitude for all your contributions. Due to the help awarded by each and every one of you, the nutritional project continues to thrive, even throughout the difficulties originated by the global pandemic. These are trying times, but with unity and commitment we are confident we will overcome the current situation.

Nutrition program progress report upto June 2021

We have increased our target audience from 130 to 335 childrenWe have maintained the anemia prevalence average at 21% and keep reducing it even more

In March 2021 the highest prevalence of anemia was found in Congar, with 39%. The indicators show a lack of interest in mothers to comply with the treatment of anemia in their children. Additionally, in this area there is no nearby Health Post that conduct an adequate monitoring. The communities of Pariaqaqa, Punyan, Yanamito, Pisca and Utupampa havesustainably decreased their anemia prevalence rate since 2019.

Nutrition improvements

  1. 2,000 kgs of fresh fish distribution once a month thanks to Exalmar and Pesquera Diamante
  2. Dairy products distribution to 335 kids once a month providing children the required dosage needed to grow
  3. High iron cookies – 30 days treatment distribution for 335 children
  4. Organic gardens with carrots, beets, spinach, chard, and radish for 240 families, monitored by our nutritionists
  5. Anthropometric evaluation of 300 children to assess nutrition improvements
  6. Training cooking sessions for Guiding mothers
  7. High iron bread production for 335 families: 4 local people were trained as bakers, we received bakery equipment donation, the communities compromised to look after bread distribution, but currently we are searching for funds to purchase bakery supplies and fix bakery premises
  8. Hygiene Workshop for children and families
  9. 200 Nutritional counseling sessions at Mision Huascaran mobile medical units.

Supplementary Programs

Mobile Medical Posts

In April 2021 we inaugurated our second mobile medical post, which includes a Pediatrics and Ginecology office as well as an echography equipment.

We surpassed our patient intake by 483% - with a total of 2,270 patients in rural towns such as Cajapampa, Canchapampa, Recuay Cochapampa, Apachico, Hayapon, Utupampa, Yanamito, Armapampa. Through the mobile medical posts, we were able to mainly treat problems related to Odontology, Pediatrics, Ginecology and General Medicine.

To continue expanding our reach, we require all the help you are able to give – utilizing the GlobalGiving platform.  The world continuously makes us face great challenges for our societies; and the children are the light and hope at the end of the tunnel for a bright future.

We thank you for all the help you’ve given and will continue to give in the future.
