Indoor smoke pollution is a serious environmental health problem in Nepal that has received relatively little attention in comparison to other issues. Indoor smoke pollution is strongly poverty-related, as it is the poor who predominantly rely on lower-grade fuels and have least access to clean technologies for cooking and heating. Furthermore, poor women and children are generally most exposed to indoor smoke, as women cook and simultaneously care for young children, and thus are also likely to be most at risk from the associated health effects.

Many of the Nepalese still rely on conventional fuel wood fire stoves for cooking their daily meals which further deteriorates their life standard. Smoke is the result of the incomplete combustion of biomass fuels, which leads to emissions that are affecting to human health. Hundreds of dangerous chemicals are produced as a result of this incomplete combustion in households. The substances have great impact on the human immune system which makes people suffer from chronic respiratory disease like Acute Lower Respiratory Infection (ALRI) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) causing death. Because of extreme poverty Nepalese rural poor are unable to purchase LP gas or gasoline to cook their meal. They mostly use fuelwood collecting from forest and rural women have the major responsibility to cook the food in kitchen. so that, the project objective is to improved health of the women and children by using portable cook-stove-1. Beneficiaries are highly satisfy from this program. The long-term impact of this program will be improved health of the women and children. They will benefit acquiring better health. Indoor smoke pollution contributes to the adverse impacts on human health and ecosystem. This initiative will be minimized negative impact of indoor smoke pollution and improve the better health. There is various reason we select the portable cook stove-1. They are:

  • Up to 80% reduction in smoke and toxic emission
  • Up to 50% reduced cooking time
  • Up to 60% reduced fuel requirement
  • Reduces time spent on fuel gathering
  • Durable and easy operation and is virtually      maintenance free
  • Portable and stable
  • No blow-pipe required
  • An insulated inner chamber retains thermal energy for faster cooking
  • Work on firewood and agri-waste
  • Improves cooking efficiency
  • Food retains the same flavor as that cooking on traditional chulhas
