In October 2018, Fundación Oportunidad y Futuro Professor Beatriz Rodríguez Carrillo, a teacher with more than 40 years of experience in the field of education, Coordinator of Support for Educational Management at the San José de Tarbes School - El Paraíso in Caracas, and who has since been their tutor and guide, welcomed the first seven students who, thanks to their high academic performance, were awarded scholarships to complete their college studies at the School of Education of the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello - UCAB (for details please check the link to our Nov. 2018 report https://www.globalgiving.org/dy/v2/pe/progress-report/edit-progress-report.html?project.projId=29526&progressReport.id=117915 )
Of these seven students, three have already graduated, unfortunately Ofelia voluntarily dropped out of our scholarship program.
A year and a half later, at the beginning of March 2020 (and before the coronavirus pandemic hit Venezuela), two workshops were held, the first with the three students who, out of that group of seven, are still in school and the second with a group of Preschool Education students from the Instituto Universitario Jesús Obrero - IUJO.
Here are their stories…
Roisdelyth: “… I have just finished my fourth semester in Preschool Education, I am currently working as an assistant teacher in the San Agustin Integral Stimulation Center in El Paraiso; because of this I have fallen totally in love with my career and I want to acquire more knowledge for me and for the children under my care, to guide them to learn in the most joyful way so that they feel happy to learn. Seeing them grow every day and being more independent makes me feel that my profession is very important for them to continue to progress no matter what obstacles they face…”
Yelibeth: "... I have just finished the sixth semester of Education majoring in Pedagogical Sciences and every day I can reaffirm more that I chose the best career that can be. I see that education is not just teaching, but also bringing a message to society; that education is the fundamental basis of every individual. Thanks to one of the internships I did, I was able to learn even more about my profession and still love it like the first day. Once I obtained my education degree I would like to have a job that would allow me to develop all the tools I obtained during my university studies. I plan to work in a school or a company because my career gives me the necessary foundation to work in both... what I love about my career is the family I have been able to form, having excellent professionals in the area and for the personal growth that I have obtained...".
Anyi: “… Currently I work as a missionary of the Catholic Church of the ABC Prodein community (Christian Charitable Association for the promotion and integral development) who carry out the great mission of forming integral human beings. My great desire, and more than a desire is a call, is to be part of this team so that I may be able to put the talents I have received to use... One of the most important and fundamental means is through education; for this reason I am deeply grateful to God and to his instruments (Fundación Oportunidad y Futuro and UCAB) that they have been able to give me all the support that I have received up to now. I long to graduate, I have only one year left (Anyi has just finished the fifth semester of Education, mentioning Pedagogical Sciences), in conclusion, I am deeply grateful to Fundación Oportunidad y Futuro,and in response of such help I must know how to respond by giving my best…”
Jheldry: “…We are one year away from graduating as an Associate Degree in Preschool Education. What I like the most about my career are the internships and the classes at the university; I definitely chose the best career and I hope to graduate and get a job. My project after that is to start a cake business to keep moving forward…”
Yerlin: “…I'm two semesters away from finishing. I love my career in Preschool Education because every day that passes I feel more identified with my career, I love children because they fill me with a lot of gratitude. In the future, after graduating, I would like to practice my profession in a recognized institution and I would also like to have the opportunity to teach children in low-income communities…”
Karolayn: “…I have one year left to graduate as an Associate Degree in Preschool Education. I want to keep on working and improving myself, I want to grow as a person and I would like to work on a project to encourage love for the environment…”

En octubre de 2018 la Fundación Oportunidad y Futuro, de la mano de la Profesora Beatriz Rodríguez Carrillo, docente con más de 40 años de experiencia en el área educativa, Coordinadora de Apoyo a la Gestión Educativa del Colegio San José de Tarbes de El Paraíso en la ciudad de Caracas, y que desde ese momento ha sido su tutora y guía, dio la bienvenida a los primeros siete estudiantes que, gracias a su alto rendimiento académico, se hicieron merecedores de las becas para finalizar sus estudios universitarios en la Escuela de Educación de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello - UCAB (para detalles, por favor dele click al reporte de Nov. 2018 https://www.globalgiving.org/dy/v2/pe/progress-report/edit-progress-report.html?project.projId=29526&progressReport.id=117915 )
De estos siete estudiantes, tres están graduados y desafortunadamente uno se retiró voluntariamente de nuestro programa de becas.
Año y medio más tarde, a principios de marzo de 2020 (y antes de que empezara cuarentena del coronavirus), se realizaron dos talleres, el primero con las tres muchachas que, de ese grupo de siete, todavía siguen estudiando, y el segundo con un grupo de estudiantes de Educación Preescolar del Instituto Universitario Jesús Obrero - IUJO.

Roisdelyth: “… Acabo de aprobar mi cuarto semestre en Educación Preescolar, actualmente estoy trabajando como maestra auxiliar en el Centro de Estimulación Integral San Agustín en El Paraíso, gracias a esto me he enamorado totalmente de mi carrera y deseo adquirir más conocimientos por mí y por los niños que están bajo mi tutela y así guiarlos a aprender de la manera más alegre y que ellos se sientan felices de aprender, verlos crecer cada día, siendo más independientes me hace sentir que mi profesión es muy importante para que ellos continúen progresando sin importar los obstáculos que se les presenten…”
Yelibeth: “… Acabo de finalizar el sexto semestre de Educación mención Ciencias Pedagógicas y cada día puedo reafirmar más que elegí la mejor carrera que puede existir, veo más allá que educación no es dar clases, sino también llevar un mensaje a la sociedad que la educación es la base fundamental de cada individuo. Gracias a una de las pasantías realizadas pude aprender aún más sobre mi profesión y seguir amándola como el primer día. Una vez obtenido mi título de educación aspiro poder tener un empleo que me permita poder desarrollar todas las herramientas que obtuve durante mis estudios universitarios. Me planteo poder trabajar en un colegio o empresa ya que mi carreara me da las bases para poder ejercer en ambos… lo que amo de mi carreara es la familia que he podido formar, contar con excelentes profesionales en el área y el crecimiento personal que he obtenido…”
Anyi: “… Actualmente me desempeño como misionera de la Iglesia Católica de la comunidad ABC Prodein (Asociación Benéfico Cristiana para la promoción y desarrollo integral) quienes llevan la gran misión de formar seres humanos integrales. Mi gran deseo, y más que un deseo es un llamado, es formar parte de este equipo para poder así, poner al servicio los talentos que he recibido… y uno de los medio principales y fundamentales es a través de la educación; por esta razón agradezco profundamente a Dios y a sus instrumentos (Fundación Oportunidad y Futuro y UCAB) que me puedan brindar todo el apoyo que hasta ahora he recibido. Anhelo graduarme, me falta solo un año (Anyi acaba de concluir el quinto semestre de Educación mención Ciencias Pedagógicas), en conclusión, profundamente agradecida con la fundación, y ante tal ayuda debo saber responder dando lo mejor de mí…”
Jheldry: “…Nos falta un año para graduarnos de Técnico Superior Universitario en Educación Preescolar. ¿Qué me gusta de mi carrera? Las pasantías y las clases en la universidad. Escogí la mejor carrera, espero graduarme y trabajar en lo que termine. Mi proyecto después es montar un negocio de tortas para seguir avanzando…”
Yerlin: “…Me faltan dos semestres para culminar. Primero que todo me encanta mi carrera de Educación Preescolar, ya que cada día que pasa me siento más identificada con mi carrera, me encantan los niños ya que me llenan de mucha gratitud. En un futuro luego de obtener mi título quiero poner en práctica mi profesión en una institución reconocida y también me gustaría dictar clases a niños de bajos recursos… “
Karolayn: “…Me falta un año para graduarme de Técnico Superior Universitario en Educación Preescolar, quiero trabajar y superarme cada día más, quiero crecer como persona y me gustaría trabajar en un proyecto para favorecer el amor por el ambiente…”
