RE: Menstruation Poverty on Girls in The Gambia Project Report – GlobalGiving
In participating in the GlobalGiving accelerator’s program, we are delighted to have had this opportunity. In so doing, our foundation raised $2,211 to help assist girls’ in The Gambia to have regular access to sanitary pads monthly. Our aim is to reach 250 girls. However, with the initial amount raised, we are going to begin with 100 girls. The funds will go towards purchasing 500 boxes of pads along with schools supplies for the new school year. These items will be shipped in a container that should arrive in October. Due to COVID-19, our abilities to travel to our project site is restricted, however, we look forward to the opportunity to travel to our project site soon. We are excited to be able to provide such needed materials to our girls, so that they are able to feel comfortable and safe attending school during their menstrual cycle. In hopes of not having their education interrupted monthly and in turn reduce their absentees. We stand to empower our girls!
